Our first MakeFest holiday gift making night was a total success! And there’s still one more to go! Everyone had a great time eating, drinking and creating beautiful gifts. People who had never drilled before used a drill. Folks who never screen printed created beautiful tea towels. And people who had before only dreamed of owning land of their own, created their own mini-landscapes filled with sweet succulents!

We ate delicious Sugar Mama’s cupcakes and yummy RockStar Bagels while we sipped the lovely Pedernales Cellars Merlot and Austin BeerWorks Beer. Lucky participants won door prizes from Striped Shirts and Slow Family Online and this special little planting vessel to fill up and take home.

Our next Holiday Gift Making MakeFest will be held on Sunday, December 16th from 3pm-7pm at Vuka Co-op. We’ll have beer from Live Oak Brewery and wine from Pedernales Cellars and lots of treats and sweets to eat.

This one’s co-ed so bring your friends, bring your partner or fly solo and belly on up to the table for some really fantastic gift making, drinking, eating, and hanging out! It’s holiday gift making like never before. Read more and register here!

From the good folks who brought you Austin Mini Maker Faire, Austin Tinkering School, Andrea’s Art Class, Future Craft Collective and Slow Family Living, come explore your creative side and get started with your holiday reveling in these gift-making workshops and full-on celebrations of craftiness. By the way, this one’s for the grown-ups only!

We’ll guide you in projects that encourage you to enjoy the process and keep it local – about as local as you can get! We’ll have tea towel screen printing, photo album or sketch book binding, mini succulent gardens and more for you to choose from – make them all or make a few of your favorite. Have fun with your holiday prep and leave armed with a few beautiful and thoughtful handmade gifts. What better way to say happy holidays than to say, “Yes, it’s handmade.”
